My Daily EscapeMy Daily Escape I watch the soap opera Days Of Our Lives daily for entertainment and escapism. The show is definitely not for intellectual pursuits or for children but for one hour I can have my very own romance novel type escape without having to find the time to read the book. As a mother of 3 young children, wife and work at home website editor I find that I need some time where I can just sit and not think about anything. My daily dose of escape is just the ticket. I view the show as a one hour romance novel. It is amazing what an hour of not thinking and working can do. For some, this would be an utter waste of time but for this weary, work at home mom it is just what the doctor ordered. The hour spent watching the soap opera is an hour where I don't have to think about the dirty laundry, or what to have for dinner, or what bills need paying today. It is an hour of watching made up people live their made up lives and taking a break from my own very busy life. The show is not going to build my IQ, nor will it offer any suggestions for world peace. But for my own peace of mind it is just the break I need in my hectic day. The made up problems of the people in Salem are so over the top they make my laundry piles look manageable. While the show is not for children and not an intellectual giant, it is a great way to escape, relax and de-stress. For people who don't have time to sit down with a big romance novel it's just the ticket. If you are feeling stressed and need to just relax give Days a try, it's not rocket science but it is good escapist television.
