One of the strongest statements that Mr. Viette made was that he felt that the evergreen type of daylily was going to be the downfall of the breed. He echos my sentiment that when you have to coddle the daylily that is the day to look for a hardier plant. I have heard this expressed by another hybridizer in Tennessee who also feels this way.
