Your DMB Bookmarks: Nancies.org

First up is http://www.nancies.org! Before there was an official fan association; while The Warehouse was yet a glimmer in Red Light's collective eye... there were The Nancies! A group of wired DMB fans put the site together as an online spot "by fans, for fans."

Through the years the site has only improved and at times the band's official fan organization, The Warehouse, has offered a Web site that simply pales in comparison to Nancies.org. For example, the quality and consistency of the site's news features are rivaled only by the DMB Mailing List Web site, another site we will feature in this series.

The most unique -- and IMHO enjoyable -- aspect of the Nancies Web site is the columns by Bobo, Shep and Pace. The columns are at once thoughtful and thought-provoking; entertaining, yet often cynical; and the bottom line: these guys are hardcore fans.

The current columns at the site will make you want to read the archives and be a regular visitor from now on (Assuming you've never been before; if you have you probably are already quite familiar with the guys' columns!) For example, Pace's opening line from his current column reads: "Dammit. I really wanted to dislike these new recordings." The column is in regard to The Lillywhite Sessions and it will definitely get you thinking. Pace goes on to reason that the band "just to spite me" have shelved their best album yet. What true DMB head can't share Pace's sentiment?!

Other features you will find at the site include a complete listing of songlists from every show; several different sets of alternative lyrics to several songs; an extensive list of intros and outros; and a help page for beginning tape traders. You'll also find music for guitar, drums and bass. Not to mention one of the best DMB FAQs around and a lyrics archive.

So as you can see, Nancies is one of the best Web sites you can spend your DMB-loving time at. They don't call themselves "The best stop for all things Dave Matthews Band." for nothing!
