ATO Records Update
When Manchester, England-born David Gray bowed out of some of his opening performances on DMB's summer tour, many fans wondered if the likable performer had had a bit of a falling out with Dave. All seems well, I am happy to report. An announcement has been made about Gray's upcoming release on Dave's own record label, ATO Records: it's coming soon. Although Gray has been recording since the early 90's, Dave was responsible for bringing the singer's unique sound stateside by releasing White Ladder as the first album from ATO Records. The song "Babylon" has proven to be a break-through hit, getting much airplay on both "real world" and 'Net-based radio stations. Two versions of the video for the song have cropped up, the most recent of which has received a great deal of play on MTV's sister channel, MTV2. The next ATO-released Gray album is titled Lost Songs and is actually a re-release of the 1996 recording of a U.K.-released album with the same name. No North American release date has been set, but watch this site for more information as it becomes available. "Two Step" into the Light Canadian publishing group ECW Press is releasing a second, revised edition of Step into the Light. The original version of the all-things-DMB book has sold more than 50,000 copies since its 1998 release. Morgan Delancey profiles each member and provides the band's history including their early bar-playing days in C'ville. According to the publisher's official Web site: "The new revised 2nd edition adds five new photos to the original and 10,000 words that chart the band's activities from 1998-2000." New content is said to include commentaries on Before These Crowded Streets, Live at Luther College, Listener Supported... and the yet-to-be-released fourth studio album. Perhaps the only delay keeping this newly revised book from the shelves is commentary on the new album we are all waiting for with bated breath...
ECW also promises that the new book will feature: information about Dave's guest appearance on Santana's Supernatural, tour coverage, as well as information about ATO Records and updates on the personal lives of band members. There will be a total of 28 color and 43 black and white photos. The paperback book will sell for $16.95 U.S., $18.95 CAN and is set to be released this coming April. Be sure to return to this site to read a review upon its release. Related Resources: Go To Page: 1 2
