About once a month, I receive an e-mail expressing disappointment that I do not feature more links to drill team web pages.
"Why haven't you written anything about the Something-ette Drill Team?" the letter will demand. And my reply? I wish I could, but it's difficult to write about a team for which I have no information. Unfortunately, this is the case with most teams people ask me about. Every month or so, I'll do a search for "drill team" and scroll page after page of links looking for new ones that are about drill teams, not drill masons or rifle teams. However, I seldom turn up much. There don't seem to be many team websites, or if there are, there is not much information on them. And where there's no website, there's no article or hyperlink on this site. There are a few new team sites out these days, though. I recently learned that the Friendswood Wranglerettes of Friendswood, Texas and the Keller Indianettes from Keller, Texas both have websites. I found out about them through e-mails to me. Hint, hint. If your team has a site, drop me a line. I'd be glad to mention it in my column. You can also post a link in a discussion of this page. Another new homepage is that of the Southwest Texas State University Strutters, who are celebrating their 30th birthday this coming year. Also, directors in the Lone Star State can check out the Texas Dance/Drill Team Educators page. Knowing all these links to great pages still won't help the person who wrote me about a drill team in Pennsylvania asking why I'd never mentioned the group. The writer was very proud of the fact that the team was celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. But as I said, no site, no story. Sure, I could write away to different schools requesting information, but that's not the point of Suite101.com. I'm here to help you navigate the Internet. But I need your help. "But my team doesn't have a web page," you say. "I can't help." Ahhh ... but you can. There are several sites where you can design and publish your own webpage for free. Tripod offers free webspace, and I have heard wonderful things about Crosswinds. You can use the programs provided on those sites or download another program for building pages called HotDog Express. I've heard good things about this program, too. Go To Page: 1 2
