Dance with the angels

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing. -Psalm 30:11

This has to be one of my favorite Bible verses. Dancing definitely does lift the spirits. Why? Because of God.

Dancing is a talent, a gift from God. Just like the ability to solve calculated equations, perform surgery, paint, sing, ride a horse, and fight a fire (I know I'm leaving people out!), the ability to dance is a gift from God, one that should be used to His glory.

A friend of mine who is a Christian and a Kilgore College Rangerette has often said that when dances, she wants God to show his glory through her. It really does show, I think, because she's an amazing performer.

But even if you can't do 12 fouettes in a row (a girl on my high school drill team did in her solo at the team's Spring Show this past Saturday), God can still be present in every step.

Many drill teams have prayer circles before performances. This is a time to ask God to help you out in your performance. And God DOES want to be a part of your performance. The prayers are a great inspiration to the dancers.

Speaking of inspiration, I found a great site for looking up Bible verses about ... well, anything. Visit the Online Study Bible and type in "dance." You'll soon have several verses involving dance right there, instead of having to sift through the real thing (not that that's not a good idea).

Another site you might want to check out is En Croix. This is a new organization designed to promote Christian dance/drill teams. If you're interested in starting on in your area, this page is a must-visit.

Good luck and God bless everyone who has Spring Shows this week. God bless everyone!
