Spring cleaning

Spring is here!!! Just as we organize our homes (or attempt to,) I have a bit of spring cleaning to do to remind you of some important upcoming drill team events.

Next week will be an exciting one for spectator (and, for some, performance) opportunities.

  • As posted on the Dance UDA ESPN and espn2 airdatessite, two competitions will be broadcast on Sunday, April 11, on espn2. The 1999 College Partner Stunt National Championship runs 3-3:30 p.m. Eastern. The 1999 College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championship Open Dance Division airs 3:30-4 p.m. Eastern.

  • If you're going in the East Texas area next weekend, you MUST see Rangerette Revels. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, April 7-10, in Dodson Auditorium at Kilgore College. This year's theme is "The Spirit of Texas." Trust me on this one--it's going to be AWESOME! (I've seen some parts of it already.) >:-) For more information on ordering tickets (all seats are reserved,) visit the Rangerette Home Page.

Be sure to check out my list of links as well. I've added a few new sites recently, including:

  • INSIGHTS- the online edition of the quarterly newsletter of the Dance/Drill team Directors of America. I've linked to many articles from this site before.
  • Dance-N-Drill- a brand new website dedicated to dance and drill team. There is a wealth of information here--from resources for music and inspiration to costume sources to curriculum guides.
  • Vanessa's Dance 101- another great homepage! There is tons of information here... from tryout tips to drill team humor. A column from this Suite101.com site is even listed there! :-) But that's not why I like it so much. I enjoyed this page because it's easy to navigate, informative, and attractive. I encourage you to visit it.

Be sure to check links that have been on my page, too. Many of them are updated and have new information. For example, DanceArt.com just added a new section on eating disorders called Edancing. I thought that was noteworthy, since eating disorders was the topic of one of my recent columns.

Thanks to everyone who has written me mail recently. I'm always glad to hear from you. Thanks to all my e-mail, I have some new ideas for upcoming articles. Keep writing!

Whew! ::wiping sweat from brow:: That's enough cleaning for one week! :-) Best of luck to all who have contests and performances, and EVERYONE take care!
