This week, I was doing my ritual searches of the Internet, trying desperately to find SOMETHING about dance/drill teams that I haven't already seen before... SOMETHING to share with you. I'm sure most of you have already conducted similar search engine routines. You type in "dance/drill team" or "dance team" or "drill team" and you come up with a) 500 links to the SAME sight (but different pages within the site) b) 473 links to pages about ROTC drill teams (goodness!) c) 3,418 links to pages for dance clubs, power tools, and athletic events.
This time, I found something interesting, though. Not something extremely profound or informative, but just a little something that made me smile. I found a page for a pom drill team. Not impressed? I wouldn't expect you to be given what I told you. But what made this page unique was the fact that every member on this particular pom drill team is a senior citizen. Isn't that just adorable? The Sun City West Pom Dance Drill Team marches in parades and gives other performances. The page is a little outdated (the parade schedule is still for 1998) but it's worth a glance. And it's nice to know that there ARE chances to keep doing dance/drill team even after high school and college. I found another page about dance for seniors that you might find inspirational as well. These dancers are not on an organized team, but I thought it was pretty neat that some of these people were in their 80's and still so energetic. Click here to view the article. Have a great week, everyone. Keep dancing! Go To Page: 1
