show daffodil beds. I have several of both the division 11 and the division 5 that are currenly in bloom. A strange late and interesting daffodil is, 'Tripartite' 11a Y-Y, a member of the division 11 split cup daffodils, and the most consistent blue ribbon winners of it's division in my garden. It is one of the few multiple headed split corona daffodils.
It is usually a mid season daffodil, however, this year it is with my most late. It could be because I planted it in December. The split corona daffodils have made much improvement in the past few years, but I and many of the the growers and showers still feel that the split corona has a long way to go as a show daffodil. Many have hopes that it will soon take a rightful place on the show bench - I am one of those. Another interesting daffodil is the small but beautiful triandrus, division 5, 'Petrel' 5W-W. Petrel, being all white, is a fine representative of the late white daffodils. It has been a short and wonderful season. Between Saturday the 14th and Saturday the 21st of April, I attended four shows, the first of which I had nothing to show, to the last where I won the Silver Ribbon for the most blue ribbons in the show. Along the way, I won two "Best-in-Show" for the week and to my best count 59 or 60 blue ribbons. This collection of daffodils is the finality of my 2001 daffodil season. Next week we get onto something else, such as the 2001 cyber daffodil show. We will have a month to make entries and then winners will be announced.
