Show Planting Techniques

The only real difference between garden/naturalizing of daffodils and planting them is show beds is the care in planting. Special care has to be taken to insure that all bulbs are correctly named, and they are separated from other bulbs so that when digging time comes, they will not get mixed together. For show daffodils correct names are very important, as that is one of the judging pointers, having the correct name.

When they are blooming, it is often easy to tell one daffodil from another by the bloom. However, when digging time comes and the foliage has died back, one bulb looks just like another when they come out of the ground. It's the second generation of planting when things can get totally out of hand and bulbs lost forever, simply because the name is unknown.
