Selecting Daffodil Bulbs for Replant
It is important for the bulbs to dry and go dormant before they are pulled apart, as the divisions are easily found when dry. Bulbs being pulled apart needs to have some of the basal plate on each bublet, or that bublet may not survive. The local garden center complained to me that some "person" entered their bulb area and started pulling their triple-nose bulbs apart, making three of each one. They essentially threw that person out, even when the person was protesting that it didn't hurt the bulbs and the bulbs would grow better separated. If I could give that person some advise, it's to not separate bulbs that belong to others. Double-nosed bulb (Note: Some of you may note that this article was published previously (before the adding of the bulb pictures). It was not scheduled for publication until August 5, but somehow, a draft copy was released on June 18th and was on the net until it was caught on June 24th and replaced. My apologies to all.)
