Well what a surprise. Here I thought all along that my crusty friends would be in the dough. Or my saucy pals would be floating in dreamland. But toppings are tops and the mushroom fanatics have taken home the golden brown, bubbling cheese, and sizzling sausage honors. The results of the Great 1999 Pizza survey are as follows:
1. Toppings with 19 votes 2. Crust with 14 votes 3. Sauce fell short with 11 votes, of which, only 9 count, because I voted for sauce twice. (I felt sorry for tomatoes, being confused as to whether they are a fruit or a vegetable) The top topping from those of you that sent me a personal preference was pepperoni. Sausage came in second, plain cheese(s) third.
Toppings give you so much freedom. You can keep it simple, like the choices listed above, or get a little crazy. Goats cheese, Greek olives, and roasted garlic sound appetizing? Maybe grilled chicken, sliced tomato, and cilantro with chihuahua cheese? And how bout that haggis and tofu combo I suggested in an earlier article. (Well... maybe we shouldn't get That crazy.) I am a strong advocate of Pizza as a science. Pizza labs all over the world developing the perfect pie. I would be happy to participate in the research, study, and development of the Mega Awesome Melt in Your Mouth, without burning the bejeebers out of the roof of it, Pizza. If there are any government agencies out there that would like to contribute say, $132,000,000,000 for the cause, please e-mail me. Below are links to a few famous and not so famous pizza chains & some of the interesting topping combos that they have created.
o California Pizza Kitchen : Since 1985 a more eclectic style of pizza. When you think of Chicago, you natuarally think of the best pizza in the world(and the worst sports teams). New York Style more to your liking? How about a visit to Bruno's web site?
And thanks to the miracle of technology - Internet Pizza If you get really desperate for pizza, there are always the pizza shops with world-wide locations run by a company that makes tacos, chicken, and pop. (Oh Boy...) Go To Page: 1 2
