ADAM: Thanks for doing our interview. How's life? ASHOD: You're welcome and it's nuts. I've been homeless for almost a year. Happily homeless. Just going wherever the wind blows. At the moment I'm in a livingroom in Echo Park, CA and there's a cat asleep on my leg. In the past couple of months I've been up and down the West Coast, into Canada, out to Texas, and over to England, France and Spain. It looks like I'll be camping out in these parts until May when we hit the road supporting Daniel Johnston. ADAM: "Blatz from the Pabst" is, at this point, my choice for song title of the year. For optimal enjoyment of Panty Lions, what's the recommended drink of choice? ASHOD: I'm still a big fan of the cheapest beer on tap. As I get older, all of my friends are switching over to artsy fartsy beers but I'm still happiest with a high life. The high life girl in the moon has guided me safely home many a nite. I could never turn my back on her. ADAM: How did you guys first get hooked up with Amazing Grease? ASHOD: Back when I was in Earlimart, we all lived in a house on the top of a hill in Silverlake. We built a bar in our backyard that was half speakeasy and half treefort. Many nites ended there and it saw it's fair share of celebrity pass thru it's doors. Scott Kannberg who runs Amazing Grease was one of them. He used to be in this alternative rock band called Pavement. We just kept in touch after that, I guess. I'm pretty sure I also got hit on by Paul Reubens in that bar. Those were the days. ADAM: Why the long time between conception of the album and completion of the album? ASHOD: For one, Ariana and I both had our hands pretty full with Earlimart. Secondly, neither of us was very technically efficient. We produced the cd ourselves and had a whole studio full of gear at our disposal but we barely knew how to use it. Somewhere near the end we started to figure it out and we actually went back and re-recorded some vocals and stuff but by that time we were over it. Perfection is for suckers.
