Featured Track: "Rock & Roll" From The Album: Charms For Love And Revenge The Scoop: Restoring glory to the LA glam scene, The Mansions have created an irresistible joy ride with "Rock & Roll". Their Brit-swagger is reminiscient of a time when rock stars were bigger-than-life. This song has all the makings of a hit; great build, head-bopping beat and a shout-along chorus. The delicious frosting on the cake is a spooky synthesizer that brings in a little touch of Gothic Halloween.Honorable Mention: The bouncy pop of "Z28" and the ambitious sprawl of "Little Atomic Bomb". His vulnerability unabashedly worn on his sleeve, Croghan comes across as an Elvis Costello-Adam Duritz hybrid, with a dash of Peter Gabriel thrown in for good measure. "space room" is a song stripped of pretension and experimentation. It’s allowed to be simple, and in its stark simplicity we find beauty.Honorable Mention: Another great downtrodden track is "fridays face in sunday suit". And for something a little more rockin’, check out the classic Costello vibe of "cupids credit card" Worth Noting: Several notable critics have been going ga-ga goo-goo over this album. It is the first release for Indie zine-turned-label In Music We Trust. Here’s to the next 100! For More Info: http://www.inmusicwetrust.com. Or listen to songs (including "space room") at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/croghan Artist: THE MOSS BROTHERS Featured Track: "A Promise Is A Promise" From The Album: Electricitation The Scoop: 12-year-old Reuben Moss is the youngest musician endorsed by Fender. His voice and his lyrics (songs about earthquakes, songs about homework) are perhaps standard pre-teen fare, but his licks & riffs would dazzle regardless of age. Reuben can play. Speaking of which, if the opening bass line of "A Promise Is A Promise" sounds suspiciously like the bass solo from, say, a Metallica concert, it’s because it really is recently departed, mega-talented Metalli-bassist Jason Newsted on the track...and all but one of the others. Evan Moss (the band’s old man at 15) even closes “Promise” with a Lars-like battering on the drums. Probably the best song ever written about cheating on a test. Expect a bright future from these two.Honorable Mention: Still doubting their chops? Check out the instrumentals "Psychomonkey" and "Electricitation".
