the energy rather than the contemplation of the music. So I think it is an age thing, not in a matter of being tired or giving up, but rather
collecting so many experiences and the music we listen to is a reflection of that.
ADAM: Everyone from The Boss to Andre 3000 has been getting political this year. Are you throwing your two cents into the political ring while you're out in front of these audiences? MARC: No, I am not getting political. I have strong views on the topic, but I have decided that it isn't my place to influence people in that way. We do need to educate ourselves and make decisions for ourselves, and I think using my influence on stage to convince kids what they should or shouldn't do is a disservice. ADAM: The press warrants a few mentions on the new album, and your target seems to be not writers in general but lazy writers. With the explosion of blogging, it seems that everyone is a critic - of everything from presidential candidates to local restaurants to CD releases. On paper, it sounds like a great demonstration of democracy. Have we reached, though, a point where there are too many chefs in the kitchen? MARC: Well... the song "Meet The Pressure" was partially done in jest and partially full of truth. But I think that people rely so heavily on what is written down to influence their decision that it is a bit disturbing that the quality of criticism has reached such an all time low. Any point, positive or negative is valuable, but when its not well thought out, or constructive, the worth is lost. ADAM: Here are the two questions we always ask: The world ends tomorrow and Ticketmaster puts you in charge of booking bands for the afterlife. Who gets the call to play Heaven?
