Cult of Personality?

Cult of Personality

When the phrase cult of personality is used, generally the idea behind it is that some people are just so overwhelming in their public image that they garner 'worshippers,' either unintentionally (JFK, Mother Teresa) or intentionally (Madonna, that 'Livin La Vida Loca' kid). I almost never agree with the impact these figures have on people, being inherently resistant to star-struck fandom, myself; but I understand it.

Usually.

I mean, yes, I understand why kids like the Power Rangers, even if I think it's moronic, asinine, poorly-acted drivel (and I do). I understand how Pokemon could catch on and sweep the world just before Christmas (imagine that). I understand people having an excessive respect for others who fill some mental or perceived emotional need; JFK was a popular hero to the people at a time when they really needed one, and from hero to idol to god is not as large a progression as it may sound. Mother Teresa did what most feeling people would do if we had the guts, and thus we take her as a hero who vicariously did what we woulda-coulda-shoulda, since we don't trust Sally Struthers with the cost of a cup of coffee a day. Madonna and the former Menudo kid (no, it's not pure facetiousness, I just honestly never remember his name), well...open sexuality is always going to touch base with some demographics.

But...

I was out surfing, like a good little reporter, you see, and I came across this site...

I don't get it. Or rather, I kinda get it, since it's opportunism and nothing else...but I sure wish I didn't.

To all thinking people, I present the antithesis of a real site, a real world-view, a real religion. The diametrical opposite of profundity, the poster-child of cluelessness. (Note: There is apparently a section with some images inappropriate for the underaged.)

You have been warned. I give you:

And for the love of God, someone please comment on this. I'm not allowed to swear here on Suite101.com, and I need your help to discuss it without doing so.
