The latest offering from Interplay, Virtual Pool Hall is better than its predecessors and offers many more games variations in the same bundled package. The view of the table is completely 3-D, and you can get any angle for your shots.
The sound and physics are very realistic. All the nuances of a pro game like curves, banking, pulling and following are accurately simulated. You can even miscue or bounce your ball off the table! Games included in the full version are Three Ball, Six Ball, Ten Ball, Bank Pool, One-Pocket Pool, Eight Ball, Nine Ball, Straight Pool, Rotation, Snooker, Three-Cushion Billiards, Basic Pocket Billiards, Fifteen Ball, Cribbage, Honolulu, Cowboy and Bowlliards. You'll find different table sizes and different levels of difficulty too! The CD includes a video tutorial and 128 computer opponents if you enter tournament mode. The manual is quite a boon as it explains things in a very simplistic, easy-to-understand manner. Installation is straightforward, including the DirectX drivers, but the CD must be in the drive for the software to run - a feature, one suspects, that has more to do with software piracy than data storage. The following are system requirements: a 90-megahertz or higher chip and Windows 95 or higher and at least 16 megabytes of RAM. There is no Mac version currently available. Feel free to check out reviews at Interplay's site. The CD is expected to be priced at around $30.00. It's worth the buy. Go To Page: 1
