The latest version of Quicksnooker combines crisp graphics with simple gameplay to bring a fun snooker experience right to your desktop.
Quicksnooker V.1.6, at just over 350K is a very compact and quick download, available for Windows 95/98/2000. The shareware version gives you a rack of ten reds and colored balls with a simple top-down view of the table. Realistic audio and high resolution graphics make for an interesting game of snooker. You can adjust the speed of your shots and the speed of the game. The game is mouse-driven and simple to master. There are aids like aiming, ball tracks and close-ups provided so that potting balls doesn't become a rarity. Registration at $15 is not a bad investment. It removes the humorous (later, tiresome) delay and entitles you to free upgrades and tech support. A link to Nick Axworthy's (the author of the game) website is provided above. One thing the game leaves out is a decent help file / guide / tutorial. It takes a little time to figure out how to aim and hit the balls with deadly accuracy. But, it's not difficult. The app supports multi-player games and is built in with network capabilities that allow you to start a network challege and chat with your opponent at the same time. This is a-kin to playing at you local snooker club if you could only simulate the stale, smoky air and the pint of lager. :) All in all, this is a user-friendly, complete application for all snooker enthusiasts to download and enjoy.
