Snooker For A CauseThis week, Cue Sports highlights an example of how top snooker professionals have done their bit towards making the world a better place. Enter: The Liverpool Victoria Charity Challenge. The Liverpool Victoria Charity Challenge is a unique, televised sporting event that brings together top snooker players plus a host of TV and sporting personalities in aid of charity. The world's top 12 snooker professionals compete on behalf of 12 British national and regional charities for a total prize fund of over £250,000 with a top prize of £100,000. They are also joined by 'household name' celebrities who play in a pro-celebrity challenge - pounds for points - to win a further prize. The final 12 charities are selected by the public, via a feature run in the TV Times. There are six charity categories and the public are invited to vote for one charity in each category. This year's contest highlighted snooker greats like Steve Davis, Allan McManus, Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O'Sullivan and John Higgins. The play was intense with each player battling for his favorite charity. The final clash saw World no. 1, John Higgins take on his counterpart, World no. 4, Ronnie O'Sullivan in a nail-biting, 9 frames to 4 finish.
