Isabela Island is the culmination of five volcanoes that formed this island. The southern tip of the island is inhabited and the northwest coast is a whale sanctuary.

Get to Know the Galapagos Explorer

The Galapagos Explorer II was built in Italy in 1990 and it's the newest ship cruising in the Galapagos waters. The ship holds 100 passengers and every stateroom is a suite. Of all the ships I've been on, the rooms on this one were the roomiest, including the bathrooms.

Getting There

You will have to fly into Ecuador first and then catch a flight to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno Airport located on San Cristobal Island. You can pick up the Galapagos Explorer II from there.
