Do you want to find a lot of cross stitch designs for a little money? Well, cross stitch magazines may be the way to go. Generally, you will find 20 to 30 projects in each issue. Most cross stitch magazines cost around $4.00 (U.S.), so you are getting designs for about 20 cents each! On top of all the designs, you also get stitching tips, new ideas and instructions for new and old techniques.
Finding the one for you If you buy your magazines from a newsstand, bookstore or cross stitch shop, you can browse before you buy. This way you will know what designs you are getting. If you subscribe to a magazine, you won't know what designs you are getting each month, but you do get the added benefit of having them delivered right to your door! My recommendation would be to browse through several different cross stitch magazines before subscribing to any. Look for one that fits your style. Cross stitch magazines can be a great way to collect designs. Magazines Online Several cross stitch magazines have web sites where you can preview their current issues. They will display pictures of the projects or list the table of contents, so you know what's inside. Of course, they don't give you the designs online - they do want you to buy their magazine! Some sites provide a free chart and other useful cross stitch information. I've listed several below and provided descriptions based on the web site information. I've visited each site, but haven't personally reviewed each magazine. (That's my disclaimer!) Cross Stitch & Needlework (formerly Cross Stitch & Country Crafts) Up to 30 exclusive new projects.
