I am a 31 year old female that has had Crohn's for 13 years. I was in college about to finish when the symptoms of the disease were so bad I had to come home and hopefully get better. I ended up being admitted to the hospital weighing 82 pounds. I laid ere for 8 weeks with the doctors doing test after test and treating as if I just had the flu. Living in a small town I took it upon myself to go to a specialist. I was then diagnosed with Crohn's disease, reflux disease, and a hiatal hernia. I spent 6 m e weeks in a hospital and thought I was on the road to recovery. Needless to say I never finished school and lost my job and nowhere to live. I never did get well enough to return to work and was awarded disability. It was then I started drinking heavil and before I knew it I was an alcoholic and went to a rehabilitation program. Shortly after I met a man, we had two children together. I then realized it was a very abusive relationship and after 8 years we separated. I am now pretty much back to where I started from but refuse to give up. I wish to thank all of the people on this site that have provided their stories, I now feel not so alone n life.

I was not sick too much during our initial courtship and we had some fabulous times together that really cemented our relationship. Recently, I have had a pretty bad flare up of the disease. I have een sick off and on now for six weeks. As you all know, this stupid illness makes you depressed and lethargic and the pain is intense. Well, my fiancé is having difficulty handling the "new me" i.e., the person I am when I am sick. He says that my illne
