I am a 50 year old male and have lived with Crohn's disease for the past 20 years. I have been hospitalized 4 times. The last time was in November of 1996 for a resection. I had
about 2 ft. of intestines removed and was in the hospital for 11 days. I have never been so happy to come home! I still have problems. Right now I am dealing with parasites. I
currently take 16 pentasa a day along with one 500 mg Cipro a day. This stuff is killing me or so it seems. I have constant diarrhea and hemorrhoids that are bigger than Dallas. I
wake up and before I leave for work I may have diarrhea 5 to 6 times. That leaves me feeling so drained and tired. I guess I am lucky after reading all the stories posted but
somehow that does not make me feel any better as I sit here typing. I hurt so bad sometimes that I just sit down and cry. Nothing worse than a 50 yr. old cry baby! But, it happens!
I am gay and I am so lucky to have a partner of 13 years that is so understanding. Without him I don't know what I would do. I miss so much work at times I wonder how I even keep
my job. I have a doctor here in Dallas that I am not really impressed with. I went for my physical in Oct. '96 and he told me I was healthy as a horse. Less than two weeks later I
was in the emergency room and had to have resection surgery the next day. He promised he would take better care of me but a year later I had to ask to come in for a physical
because of constant diarrhea. That is when he discovered I had colitis and parasites. I am so tired of being sick! In all the years I have had crohn's I have never talked with
anyone else with the disease. That is why I am
so happy to have the computer and access to the internet. I hope someone will take pity on me and send me an email. I do need some cheering up if you have not already discovered
that. I don't get down that often, but it does happen. Thanks for letting me share my story and getting this off my chest. God bless all of you.
