Crohn's Disease Ulcerative Colitis IBD PageI am writing this story about my husband. His health is of great concern to me now and I am so fed up with doctor's not wanting to figure it out, that I am searching the internet constantly to find information. My husband, Tim, has had an arthritis (Ankylosing Spondylitis) diagnosis since age 23, and that was 6 years ago. Just recently he was diagnosed with "a very mild case of Crohn's)," or so says this latest GI. This doctor also told Tim that this mild case was NOT the reason he was throwing up all the time. He prescribed reglan and that worked for about 1 week. Which is typical for almost every med he's tried to stop the vomiting. Tim's symptoms are constant waves of nausea, beginning each morning following a bowel movement. He does NOT always have diarrhea...and never has had blood in his stool. But, the bowel movements make him so sick to his stomach that he vomits. The waves can his from 1 - 9 times in a day. These symptoms began following a meal that Tim said was a "bad piece of meat". This was about 2 years ago. Since then he has been throwing up all the time, dropping from 220 (6'3") to 170. In the evenings are ok and he can usually eat dinner. He gave up drinking May 97, and things were GREAT for 3 months. The flare ups then came back for 1-2 days, which was manageable. For some reason the flare ups like to occur during the work week. He like to indulge in sweets, such as cookies and candy & also spicy foods! This worries me and am afraid I have turned into somewhat of a nag! At this point we are trying to switch HMOs, to find someone who won't tell him they can't help him after they've run their standard 2 tests. I just love these doctors that don't tell you specific results. I would like to know what they mean by "normal" and "clean as a whistle", while my husband's health suffers! Funny, though, cause I can never get them to return my calls...... Obviously, I am frustrated and feel at my witts end sometimes. I would, and Tim would, appreciate hearing from anyone that knows what it's like. If you have similar symptoms or know someone who does--please let us know what you're doing to deal with the pain(s) of it all. God bless everyone here!!
