Crohn's Disease the personal side...... cont.

I am a 55 year old female who has had Chrons since 1961. I have had 4 bowel resections and have taken every medication available which does no good. I cannot take Prednisone as I become very agitated and require no sleep at all. I am presently having a very bad time with fistulas, diarrhea that just runs out of me and arthritis in every joint. I have had it with this nasty disease and am going to Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN for an evaluation in January. It will be my first time on a plane and first time going any- where by myself as I am a widow who was married to a guy for 35 years who was the greatest and the most understanding when I had flair ups and surgery. I was just wondering if anybody else has been to the Mayo Clinic for Crohn's and what your opinion is. Would appreciate any responses and also any prayers so that I may get some relief. I am about to the end of my rope with this dreaded disease. Thanks for listening.

I have now found a new significant other, have gained the 25 pounds back, and have been living since July with no medication. I don't know how long this will last but for now it is GREAT.

---------------------------------------------------------------- NEXT STORY: I am a 44 year old female with a 16 yr. old son, a 5 yr. old daughter and a wonderful husband. My parents are in their 70s, retired and enjoying a healthy and happy life. My prayer is that I out-live them. My illness has really caused them much pain. My kids and husband and his parents and sisters are very supportive. They actually try to do too much for me, if that's possible! I had my appendix removed when I was 6. I have been anemic all my life. I was a sickly child, mostly upper respiratory type infections. I took a lot of penicillin until I had an allergic reaction once. Then took lots of antibiotics for various and never ending infections. Did this contribute to the Crohn's? Who really knows. I was always athletically
