Here are a couple of personal stories. If you can relate to these and I am sure alot of you can, please leave your comments in the discussion area of this page.
I guess my story is just like everyone's. But I can't have surgery for my crohn's because I have it through the large and small intestines and my stomach. I am 24 and almost lost my life last Christmas of 1996. It's hard, and I feel for everyone who is in the same boat as I. I live my life one day at a time but at times I feel so alone. My supporting Husband has been there for me but he does not fully understand what I go through with the pain. I too thought it was all in my head but I learned that it is not. Where I live I am the worse case at such a young age. They figure that I should be lying in bed for the rest of my life. I fight very hard not to get myself down and I do know my limits. I try and think that I am normal just like everybody around me and I can't keep up. I do admit that it is hard but I don't want to be sick and I try my hardest not to be. I found out through my doctor that they are working on the cure. They thought maybe using Bone Marrow, but with a patient of Crohn's it can possible have a side affect of death. So now they are looking into some how changing the lining of the intestines. There are times where I feel so alone, that I am the only one here in the world that is sick. Thanks for listening and it helps me feel better knowing that I am not alone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello...I am a 45 year old female who has had Crohn's since age 16. I missed half my junior and half my senior years in high school because I was too ill to go. I was maintained on medication for over a year, but was bed ridden, so I opted surgery to get a better quality of life. At that time I only lost 4 ft of large intestines, and was reconnected. For 5 years, that worked, then I got sick again, and ended up with an Ileostomy. After that I had annual bouts with kinking intestines, which forced 14 additional surgeries through the years.
