Here are some comments I have collected over the years. These comments have not been edited except for spelling errors. These are the answers I got to the question "Tell me
what you hate about Crohn's Disease?" These are very interesting to read and will continue into the next article.
It is unpredictable, limitations it sets on what I can eat. The pain and lethargy can diminish an otherwise perfectly good day. I don't really hate it. Sometimes I am frustrated having it. I think it's just something that I have to get used to. Having to worry about staying close to the bathroom. Having to take prednisone, side effects. When people know you have Crohn's and act like its nothing to worry about by making no allowances for things you have to do to cope with it . When I kiss a new date goodnight and I have to rip a juicy one. Never knowing what the day will bring for me when I wake up. I try not to hate anything. So I don't hate Crohn's. I just dislike the pain and isolation it caused me to feel. I hate impossibility to eat something when I am hungry, If I have problems because of CD. Anxiety about dealing with my ileostomy when active or on the move. Deciding whether or not to reveal or discuss my condition. Questions of intimacy. Insurance companies. Skin rashes. Bulges, stains, smells. Just about everything. Diarrhea - at less than opportune moments. Trying to explain to a new boss who believes sickness is a sign of weakness....You know the kind....She drug herself into work after being hit by a train...... Having a colostomy not feeling well. How it can control your life. Can't predict how I'm going to feel when planning a vacation/social events. Everything. It is stopping me from pursuing many things in my life but I have learned to live with things I cannot change. Not understanding why or how I got it. Trying to control it and how it has totally turned my life upside down. I am 25 years old and I'm a Police Officer. It has already affected my work and my personal life. I am an extremely active person in sports (weight lifting, competing in mountain bike and every other sport you can imagine). It has made me feel like I've
