On Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman

On Killing

After a lengthy discussion on post-traumatic stress disorder, Grossman wraps up the book with crime statistics and an argument that the breakdown of American society is caused by persistent violence in the media and interactive video games. He says that we are conditioning our children the same way we condition our soldiers: "We are learning to kill, and we are learning to like it."

I am not convinced by his statistics, but he does make some valid points. I'm afraid, though, that his fight with the media and entertainment industry will not be successful due to societal apathy towards violence.
