Ocean's Eleven: Film Review

However, it is not just the execution of the heist that makes the film. The ensemble nature of the film and the film's actors are its charm. It is particularly refreshing that big Hollywood players like Clooney, Pitt, Roberts, and Damon do play well with others and every member of the cast has room to shine. Bernie Mac, Elliot Gould, and Carl Reiner turn in very memorable performances. Moreover, Brad Pitt and George Clooney have excellent chemistry in the scenes they work together. The two actors really convey a sense of comraderie.

The only thing about Ocean's Eleven that was disappointing was the lack of chemistry between Julia Roberts and George Clooney. There were no fireworks on screen especially if this film is compared to Soderbergh's earlier action/comedy Out of Sight. In that film, Clooney and Jennifer Lopez smoldered. The audience is only given a brief flicker here. It is possible that another actress may have been a better choice for the role of Tess. It may have made Ocean's intention behind the heist more understandable.

Ocean's Eleven overall is rather entertaining. The cast is excellent and the film is pure fun. For a break from reality, Ocean's Eleven is highly recommended.
