While the story is unrealistic and somewhat unoriginal, Bandits is a thoroughly entertaining movie. There are several funny moments and twist at the end, while foreseeable, still is quite clever. Bruce Willis is charming as Joe and Cate Blanchett's performance really brings Kate Wheeler to life. Blanchett convey's both Kate's desperation as a bored housewife and her passionate nature when she finds herself in love with both men. It is, however, Billy Bob Thornton who really stands out as neurotic, disease obsessed Terry. Thornton is responsible for many of the movie's most hilarious moments and allows the audience to relate to a character who could come across as merely annoying if played differently.
