Design a job application that each applicant must fill out and sign. Preparing to Fill Out A Job Application will give you an idea of what to put into the design of the job application you design. Make certain a disclaimer is written on the application that asserts you can fire the person if statements on the application are found to be untrue. Also have room for names, addresses and phone numbers of references. Put a statement on the application that the person will be on probation for 30 or 60 days (your choice.) This gives you a window within which you can terminate the worker without much documentation, if he just doesn't live up to your expectations. Write interview questions before the interview process begins.
Ask each person who is interviewed the same questions. A lot can be learned
about one when the question asked is open- ended. An answer of yes or no,
doesn't tell much, but a question where the person has to make a sentence
to explain an issue will tell volumes about the person.
