CLUTTER

The well known 80/20 rule of business states:

"If all of a given category of items are sorted in order of value,
80 percent of the value will come from only 20 percent of the items."

Think about that in terms of clutter. Eighty percent of the space on our shelves is occupied by stuff we don't need or use. When setting up a home office or work space it is sometimes necessary to clean out a room or closet for business use. You shouldn't have clients walking through a cluttered house when you want to be considered as a serious business. Get rid of the clutter in any area an outsider will see. Have a garage sale or sell by advertising to get rid of the junk. Get a free Organizing Newsletter.

Eighty percent of the outfits we wear come from 20 percent of the clothes cramming our closets and drawers. How much of the remaining 80 percent could we give to Goodwill? Working at home also gives you the advantage of dressing more casually, so you don't need a wide selection of outfits.

Is this all just fancy business theory? Nope, if you get rid of the 80 percent that is clutter, you will be more than 20 percent more efficient. In many cases, your mind will rest much easier for having less to worry about.

It also gives you a guilt-free mind so you can concentrate on your business.

Adults didn't suddenly learn how to clean, wash or cook when +they grew up. Children must be taught these chores as they are growing up. Family life is just another form of learning. Teach them to help. Then accept their help at face value. Most chores you could "do it better myself," but does it matter as long as the chore is done and your child is learning?

Unclutter your life; put things away as you use them. There are areas in each room, that if kept tidy will give that room the appearance of being
