PLANNING
Rough out the entire project, listing all the main elements from start to finish. This will cover designing, calculating inventory needed and ordering supplies, etc. List starting dates and deadlines for each part of the project. Overcompensate on the time and even double it from what you first figure it will take. As time elapses you can recalculate as each segment of time is used. The time and deadlines for each component can overlap; you might not be able to finish one part without starting another part anyway. Mark your calendar with the dates. When you reach a component date on your calendar transfer it to your to-do list for the day and proceed as you normally would. PRIORITIES You now have a reasonable idea of what and where you want to go in life. If you reading this, I am guessing that you are very serious about your home-based business. Perhaps it is actually number one in your mind, or possibly number two. That is the priority you have assigned to it. We must now go farther. An interesting way to set priorities is found at Priority Setting: "First Things First." Other priorities must be set to show how you will schedule time to have most of what you want. If you're still not sure about setting the priorities, I suggest you take a few minutes and a piece of paper to write down everything you did yesterday or on any recent typical day. Write down the time you took to do the various things. Think back - did you complete each chore completely or did you go back and forth between chores, never really completing one? Take time to consider:
You may not be aware of it, but you set priorities every day. You choose to make a phone call, you finish one project before starting the next. It might be unconscious, but you are deciding what is most important to you at the time.
