Jan 21, 2000 - © Barbara Massie

My son and daughters grew up learning how to clean, cook, wash and press their clothes. They learned to do these things to help the family, but I was also determined that they would be able to take care of themselves and help in their families. In other words, delegate some of the work to the children, you will save yourself time and teach them life-long habits. Remember - Forget Perfection! Delegating & Empowering Delegating & Empowering was written for small business and employees, but it has many hints that will work for family.

Why do YOU have to be concerned about decorating for any holiday or fun time? Let your family decorate. Everything will look fine; how can a Christmas tree not look wonderful? How can Easter eggs, even muddy colored ones, not look beautiful? It will also build the children's self-esteem to know they did it themselves. Let the bakery do your baking.

These are just a few hints that I hope give you some ideas. The main thing is forget perfection, let your family help, and do take time to relax. family.com gives many excellent articles on raising children.

Take time at the beginning of the year to plan positive happenings for your business.
