Eye contact and smiling is nonverbal. It can draw a customer to your booth. A smile and a friendly, "Hi, how're you doing today?" will make a customer want to stop and browse because you have given individual attention.
Trying to smile constantly will appear to be artificial at times. It isn't necessary to have a big smile on your face all day, but give the illusion of one. Practice making your eyes smile! Frown - do you feel your whole face tighten up? Now - make your eyes smile - keep your mouth closed and FEEL a smile in your eyes. You can feel your face loosen and your mouth come up at the corners. Fold your arms in across your chest now, make your eyes smile. You can feel your arms loosen and body start to relax. This shows that you don't have to sit during a whole day and "pretend" to smile. Just keep your eyes smiling and your body will follow. Ah - lessons in "open posture" and "smiling." but there is more. In the next article, I will tell what men do right that women should copy.
