My family and I have become experts in the subject of slow cooker dinners. Around the
ranch, it's just easier to pop everything in and come back in 6-8 hours to a nicely done
dinner. Being a cattle ranch, beef recipes tend to be a favorite.
One thing to kep in mind - don't keep checking the pot. Slow cookers don't need stirring and every time you take the lid off, it takes an extra 20 minutes to build the temperature and steam back up. We save all of the tougher cuts of beef for the slow cooker. Eight hours of slow, moist cooking will tenderize shoe leather if need be.
Layer the steak on the bottom of the cooker and top with the onion, celery, juice, Worcestershire, and pepper sauce. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. Add the peppers, garlic, and okra. Cook on high for 30 minutes. Good with cooked white rice.
Salt and pepper both sides of the steaks and lay on the bottom of the slow cooker. Top with the soup mix, water, and soup. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Serve on top of fresh white bread or with mashed potatoes.
Lay the steak on the bottom of the slow cooker, top with the wine, teriyaki, garlic, broth, catsup, mustard, and onion. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. In a bowl, mix together the cornstarch and water. Add the cornstarch and mushrooms to the cooker and cook on high for 30 min. Serve with saffron rice or a rice pilaf.
