Father's Day is coming up shortly So this whole article rates a great big You know the drill: Quite frankly, ads like that make me a little worried about Father's Day. That's not how we do things at all. In fact, ads like that set a very dangerous precedent and might put ideas into some people's heads. If you need a quick card, go here, write your own message and print it out! I think the best gift for Father's Day at our house would be a little note that says: "In honor of Father's Day you are excused from all hard labor in the garden for the day. This will include but is not limited to: mowing the meadow with the walk-behind mower, weed whacking and bush hogging, shoveling mulch and/or gravel, hauling rock out of the woods, building structures, endlessly rearranging quantities of garden furniture, planting trees, moving trees and shrubs, leveling patios, chain sawing trees, trail blazing, fence building, groundhog relocating , or ditch digging." But then this year we would have to add a teensy post script. Something along these lines: "p.s. Happy Birthday!" But we wouldn't stop there. No sirrreee. We'd add one more itsy bitsy little line: "p.p.s. By the way, since it is your birthday and we hate to break with good solid time-tested traditions and you always paint on your birthday, here are two gallons of premium paint. (The garage will look soooo much better with a facelift!) Hugs and kisses from your loving family." It's a little late to order anything now, but do you think maybe we should anyway? Oh and hey, don't miss all the great Father's Day articles at Suite101.com! And by all means enjoy the Tacky Yard Art Contest -- a good natured Suite101.com phenomenon with a life all of its own: Our endearing Squish talks all about it here! Happy Father's Day! By the way, here is my newest Cottage Garden find for that category of my Link List: an open-to-the-public, organically-oriented flower garden for zone 4 if you can believe it! A Cottage Garden in Maine! Check out the how-to part about gardening over sod -- we use that technique here at home, too. Go To Page: 1 2
