"Bloom where you are planted!"

"A rose by any other name would still attract aphids."

Recently, I received by email a poem entitled Grandma's Garden and I am pleased to share it with you. Here is another bit of garden-related poetry recently posted in the "Scribbles" section of the suite101.com web site, Inscription On A Garden Gate.

"Who loves a garden, still Eden keeps."

"The earth laughs in flowers."

Reading these writings, I was reminded that there are many such verses and snippets of poetry, along with snappy one liners and inspirational thoughts that might be of interest to gardeners.

"GROW dammit!"

"He who plants a garden plants happiness."

We find them inscribed on garden ornaments, plaques and gift items or printed on tee shirts and tote bags. We come across them casually here and there, perhaps used as tag lines or in disjointed snatches, employed as filler in a gardening book or tucked next to a photo in a horticulture magazine or hidden away in a greeting card.

"Weeds 4 Sale -- U-Pick."

"One year's seeding makes seven years' weeding."

Rarely do we find these words collected in any quantity, or in a place where we might be able to locate them again in the future when we might have a use or need for them, when we might want to resurrect that "perfect" saying. I do not have a perfect memory, and I became frustrated at not being able to remember where I had read that "perfect" line.

"Plant smiles, grow giggles, harvest love."

"Thyme Began In A Garden"

So, I have scoured the virtual library out there in the ether that is the Internet and pulled together as many of these sayings, quips, quotes, inspirations and verses as I could find. If I have left out a good one, or if you have an original poem to share, let me know and I will add it. (Please include the author's name, if you know it.)

"Friends are flowers in the garden of life."
