Perhaps this trend toward essences is but a part of the current renaissance of some of the old folkloric methods for enhancing our well being. In any case, one of these resurgences is apparently the current promotion of the idea of " essence." Essences can be drawn from many sources, from the
moon to flowers to rocks.
As I understand it, the art/science of essence therapy does not require fragrance, even if the source of the essence is a flower, or even as described by the Perelandra folks on the edge of the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, a whole garden bouquet. So why am I beginning to feel like a version of the old "Now-Follow-My-Logic-Here" joke? Maybe because I don't think the essence of flowers can be contained in a little vial. In any case, here is the Whole Energy Essences Garden Tour! However there is more to it than just floral or even plant properties. This essay takes us past flowers and essences to the portrait of a co-creative garden. Hmmm. See what I mean about the logic? Anyway. All I can say from personal experience is that it is beginning to smell like fall outside, at least to me. And as soon as I stop sneezing at the essential yet as far as I can tell unscented ragweed, I'll be out there gardening like a crazy fool! How about you! ENJOY!
