Feng Shui Gardening: A New Year, A New SpiritThe truly curious simply must visit the ultimate feng shui resource for several hours of fine entertainment on a cold winter evening. Or a hot summer afternoon; just plan on spending some time. But it's not important to become an expert. That takes twenty years of intensive study and a certain talent most of us do not have. Instead, I think we can understand enough that it heightens our appreciation for the world around us and how we are connected to it. By that we are enriched. Some modern and recent practitioners apply feng shui directly to the garden, much as they have loosely adapted the old tools and skills to appeal to the modern western mind with regard to interior design or the use of color in general. And to be honest, regardless of the most puristic of critical opinions, I rather enjoy this approach to garden design and creation. Imagine once again "Feng Shui in the Garden: Simple Solutions for Creating Comforting, Life-Affirming Gardens of the Soul"! There really is such a thing, an amazing book by Nancilee Wydra who founded the Pyramid School of Fung Shui. And if you find yourself in need, by all means try some of the 10 basic sure-fire cures such as these from the Zen Garden or a similar source. All joking aside, feng shui brings new perspective, reveals new themes, makes us receptive to new approaches. It opens our eyes and minds. That's really all you need to bring the refreshed energy and creative forces of a new and rejuvenated spirit to your garden. Well, that and a little bit of sunshine! Happy New Year!
