Bumping Around the Internet

For those of you who are into the paranormal, there's Craig Hamiton-Parker's True Psychic Stories of the Stars. Sort of Coronation Street meets The X-Files.

And finally, the most obscure Street reference that I know of. Gloriously, deliciously obscure. Most of you will know of Sarah Lancashire, recently seen in "Seeing Red" and the television programme Where the Heart Is, and before that as one of Coronation Street's all-time great characters, Rachel Woolstenhulme (later Raquel Watts).

Take a look at this, it's a geneological table for the Lancashire family from the 18th Century. I don't know what it means or how this happened, but to quote Dame Edna, it's spooooky if you ask me, possums.

I think that this last bit of detective work should earn me the title of "King of the Corrie link-spotters" once and for all! I'm not sure if I should be proud of this or not, but there it is. I told you that I had a problem.

A GENTLE REMINDER

Please don't forget that Betty Driver's 80th birthday is coming up on May 20th (I know, doesn't that sound impossible??!). If you'd like to add your best wishes to a big cyber card that's being put together for the occassion, just email them to bettysbday@hotmail.com along with a picture of yourself if you have one scanned and want to include it.

FAREWELL TO A GIANT

Finally, I'd like to say a few words about a lovely man who passed away earlier this week. Most Canadians will remember Bob Homme fondly, he was the star of The Friendly Giant for many years, along with the puppets Jerome (the giraffe) and Rusty (the rooster).

Bob lived in a small town in Ontario about 5 miles from where I do. I met him on a couple of occassions and had the pleasure of dining to his musical accompaniment in a beautiful little Inn on Valentines day a couple of years ago. He was loved by absolutely everyone around here, a truly gentle man who did alot for local charity events. He was awarded The Order of Canada a little while back.

This doesn't have very much to do with Coronation Street except that the CBC airs both shows. But The Friendly Giant was my favourite programme when I was a kid just as Corrie is now, and I just wanted to say that I'll miss him alot.

We love you Friendly. Rest in peace.
