Fibromyalgia and basic wound care.

4) Cover the wound with a dressing or a bandage. This can be a band aide or gauze and tape all of which you should have in your medicine cabinet. 5) If this wound has excessive blood or drainage call your doctor immediately! 6) If you see coloration around the wound that frightens or concerns you… call the doctor. 7) If you begin to run a fever at the same time call a doctor. 8) Basically when in doubt call your doctor! 9) Determined to ignore the doctor? Okay you may be able to keep the wound in better condition if you follow the next tips. Different wounds require different types of care. 1) Burns are fragile wounds if it appears to be major, you see charring or blistering call you doctor don’t go it alone on a serious injury burn or other wise. 2) Salves can cause damage or worsen burns, DON’T use them unless instructed to do so by a medical professional who has seen the injury! Back to that basic knot you are going it alone on. 1) Once you have cleaned the wound there are more things you can do to help keep it healing. Change the bandage often. If the bandage is full of drainage toss it and put on another one. 2) Antibiotic salves, peroxide and iodine can be major sterilization and healing aids. USE THEM! 3) Each time you put a new bandage on treat the wound. 4) Clean the wound, dry it and then apply antibiotic salve, re dress and allow it to drain some more. 5) Your wound stops draining and is getting worse! (Call the doctor!) 6) OOPs I forgot your doing this alone no matter what I say. Okay, Warm soaks with Epsom salts can be beneficial in infection reduction. It can also encourage drainage and healing. 7) Soak 3-4 times a day and monitor how it is recovering. Again if you are not seeing improvement. See your doctor! 8) Hot compresses can also encourage the thinning of drainage and its movement out of the body. Use these with care and don’t get to hot as they will burn you and then you will have new wound to address. 9) There are some basic herbal cures you can use; there are teas and herbs with antibiotic and anti-fungal qualities. (These will be covered more in other articles. 10) Keep the wound dry and clean. 11) As often as you can allow the wound to air. Simply clean the wound dry it and expose it to open
