Yeast, tea, and Fibromyalgia can a tea help reduce your pain?

© Barb Briley

When I began reading up on Candidiasis I figured the symptoms sounded like Fibromyalgia. Why not take a closer look at its causes and cures?

Many doctors and herbalist believe that if the candidiasis spreads uncontrolled through the whole body it will cause pain symptoms similar to Fibromyalgia. So if this is the only culprit causing the pain, kill the yeast and it stops the Fibro. This sounded like a good theory and I was not unfamiliar to having yeast infections.

As an asthma patient I have to use lots of inhalers. Steroid use, especially orally can cause Candidiasis, more commonly known as a case of thrush. Combine steroid use with antibiotics and the yeast infections became frequent for me.

I suspected I personally suffered from what they call chronic Candidiasis. This would be a severe case in which the over growth of Yeast had invaded my whole body and was causing symptoms in many areas.

Doctors had given me prescription remedies in the past for isolated infections. Vaginal or oral when the thrush became too severe I was miserable until I was treated.

My mouth would recover and I would feel better for a time. Then when I became ill again from a germ or if I had a severe bacterial infection treated with antibiotics, I started having problems again. It was a cycle I was sick of. Each time a new treatment of antibiotics can/did cause me the most horrible symptoms.

I learned the hard way that antibiotics can throw our bodies balance of yeast out of whack. For women in particular this yeast is commonly present in vaginal area and the colon. No matter what your sex at some point you have this yeast living in you. This is the same yeast that causes the vaginal yeast infection in women. Stress, antibiotics, poor eating habits etc can bring on this infection. I often have it in my mouth and several skin areas due to medication. It is rancid and nasty just to think about.

I was desperate, I couldn't eliminate all the yeast but couldn't I at least control it some? Was my doctor missing something so simple? I researched it extensively; I wanted to know if Candidiasis could be dealt with naturally.

One of my books offered me the remedy of a tea. My introduction to Pau D'Arco tea was a slow one. The literature was not complimentary. It was from a bark, an especially bitter bark. I didn't like bitter anything to drink, I wondered could I stomach it? Who if anyone was using it? Or, was I just being wishful over something that was an empty promise?

This was something a very good doctor instinctively identified in me as a problem. Staying away form yeast and refined starches is NOT easy, however. Especially once it sets in and the cravings start. ...
