What is eating right?© Barb Briley
Eating right takes a few moments consideration; repairing poor nutrition damage takes much longer.
I refuse to sit here and hammer at the four food groups when in today’s news you see ridiculous average servings (to small) to satisfy or two large to be consumed all in one day. Admittedly we rarely can afford the kind of balanced diet they speak off. Juice isn’t cheap and Milk cost more than gasoline. In the case of a Fibromyalgia patient some foods are not only out they are taboo. IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) does not subscribe to the food pyramid. It has its own mind when it comes to food and for each of us the food trigger can vary. What good are 3 servings of fruit if they cause you cramps, pain, diarrhea, and more? The answer is no good at all. IBS does cause absorption problems. Digestion begins as soon as you start chewing your food. Saliva helps move and digest food. It moves the food into your stomach. Once in your stomach the uproar begins for most of us. Spicy foods, lactose intolerance or other problems can cause too much acid during the digestion process. Now with a building case of heartburn, the food is broken down and passed on to your small intestine. This is where the absorption problems begin. Irritated the intestines are now unable to absorb all of the nutrients from our food. It is hard to imagine that in a society such as ours we can actually be poorly nourished while eating all the right foods, but it happens. Another complicating factor is that when you are not eating correctly or adequately your cells begin to malfunction. This can cause problems such as poor intercellular exchange. What this means is that although you have nutrients in your blood your cells are incapable of absorbing the needed nutrients. The failure of the cells to use the nutrients in the blood can actually lead to false blood work readings. How? Your blood work is beautiful everything is well balanced and the numbers say that you should be feeling great. What this actually means is that with nowhere to go the vitamins float around in your blood all day and are not used at all. The chemical process is interrupted. Go To Page: 1 2
