Last week we looked at the top five hospitals in the United States for the treatment of pulmonary conditions. This week we conclude the list of the top ten.
6. University of California Medical Center - San Francisco, California U.C. San Francisco has an outstanding Pulmonary care program located at three different hospital locations. It is a leader in cardio-pulmonary research and the treatment of various lung diseases. 7. Massachusetts General Hospital - Boston, Massachusetts Mass General specializes in the treatment of such diverse respiratory conditions as COPD, sleep apnea and pulmonary rehabilitation. In addition, it offers an excellent stop smoking clinic for those who have difficulty kicking the tobacco habit. 8. Cleveland Clinic - Cleveland, Ohio The Cleveland Clinic offers an outstanding program of pulmonary rehabilitation. Their programs offer programs for those who suffer from virtually any respiratory problem and focuses on the motivational aspects of rehabilitation as well as the actual treatment, to enhance the patient's response to therapy. 9. Brigham and Women's Hospital - Boston, Massachusetts Brigham and Women's is a teaching hospital of Harvard University School of Medicine. It's Respiratory treatment programs offer care for many respiratory illnesses and are pioneers in the lung transplatation field in the United States. In 1995 they performed the first triple organ transplant in the United States. 10. University of California San Diego - San Diego, California U.C. San Diego is a recognized as one of the most important medical centers in the nation in the field of lung transplantation and pulmonary vascular diseases. They are also associated with the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in San Diego providing care for veteran's of the Armed Forces. As in the top five, there is one city that stands out in the second five. Boston, Massachusetts appears to have the most recognized facilities in this group and is an area where individuals can get the best medical care at the most facilities within that city.
