Pulmonary Fuction Testing

One final note, before I close my part of this article. I said last week that I was going to talk about smoking cessation. Even with Zyban, I have not had much luck so far, however I have managed to reduce my smoking by about 25%. It's a tough battle, and I think that the medication, combined with other smoking cessation techniques will be effective. I've tried to quit "cold turkey" before and haven't had much success, so I hope that a gradual reduction, medication and other techniques will be more effective. No matter what method I use, I am determined to quit, and I'll keep you posted on my efforts in this journey to be smoke free.
Adelle My relief can only be considered obvious after today. The doctor told us after the PFT that he had expected some restrictive as well as obstructive issues and there were no signs of any restrictive lung disease. Looks like we caught this thing early on. I was pleased that Floyd was started on an inhaler. I found it interesting that his body had compensated for the shortness of breath as he didn't realize he was having any breathing difficulty until after he used the inhaler for the first time. It eased his breathing and increased his capacity for oxygen intake, thus helping with the air hunger that goes along with this.

Our goal now is to cut back the smoking another 50% as Floyd has already mentioned. He has cut back already close to 50%. He doesn't think that he has cut back that far but I see the difference. Perhaps a little objectivity helps in this area. I am pleased and hoping for more good results as time goes by. I anticipate many good years for Floyd and feel he will gain control over this disease. I'll keep you posted on how the smoking cessation goes.
