Top 10 Hot Picks! - This Issue: Java and JavaScript So, what is a really hot web site? How do you find them? Although tedious at times, it's still fun to just get out there and surf. You never know what you'll find or where you'll find it. With all the communities jammed full of web sites, and the search engines and webrings available, it's almost impossible not to find what you're looking for! Of course, you have to sort through the mediocre sites to find the great sites that make it worthwhile. The bottom line is this: You want something new and stimulating and exciting. That's what you'll hopefully find here. This issue of Top 10 Hot Picks! covers my top 10 choices for great Java and JavaScript sites! First, some basic info: Java: A general-purpose programming language created by Sun Microsystems. Java can be used to create Java applets. A Java program (applet) is downloaded from the Web server and interpreted by a program running on the computer running the Web browser. JavaScript: A cross-platform, World Wide Web scripting language developed by Netscape Communications. JavaScript code is inserted directly into an HTML page. You'll be amazed at the extent of the Java collections available for free. I recently added some very simple Java applets to my web site, and I love the effect they create! My first Hot Pick is The Official Java Home Page, the Source for Java Technology, offering Java applets, the Java Store, news, support, JavaMail, JavaBeans, and much more. My next Hot Pick is The Java Boutique, offering free Java applets, news, how-to info, reviews, FAQ's, chat and help. You'll find special effects, really cool stuff, games, brain teasers, text effects, and tons more. This is definitely a great way to jazz up an ordinary web site without alot of trouble! My next Hot Pick is The Free Site - JavaScript, Java, Free Java Applets, offering free Java applets and JavaScript, banners, digital postcards, email, fonts, forms, graphics, practical jokes, contests, screen savers, great links to other sites, and tons more. You'll be here for hours! My fourth Hot Pick is The Java Shoppe, also featuring Java applets, graphics, digital greeting cards, and search engines. Simple design - easy to navigate - I definitely recommend it! This next Hot Pick goes to the Netscape Center for Java Software. Great web site offering lots of Java software and other Java info. Always updated and current!
