They do require that you register for several programs, newsletters, etc., but from what I was able to ascertain by going through the process of registering a new domain, there is no cost. Nowhere was I asked to enter a credit card number. This site is fairly new, so I felt it was definitely worth mentioning, as domain names seem to keep getting cheaper and cheaper as times goes on.
