This issue of Cool/Great Sites features some more really great web sites I have found for you. You'll find quite a variety here today, from free Shockwave games to cable movie channel web sites to freeware and contests. Let's start with the free Shockwave games. My first pick is Candystand. You do need Shockwave for this web site as it contains tons of cool free games, puzzles and more than you play right there on the site. If you don't already have the Shockwave plugin, you can download it right there on their site. Enjoy arcade games, miniature golf, pinball, billiards, video poker, derbies and rallies, bowling, skating, hang gliding, snowboarding, egg hunts, trivia, solitaire and more. You can go directly to the game you wish to play, or search with the candy menu and you'll see all the games that particular candy (i.e., Lifesavers) page has to offer, along with contests and merchandise. The games are in full color and work great. I have already spent many, many hours here playing games! It can be quite addictive. Make sure you bookmark this one!My next pick is www.555-1212.com. Whether global or local, find it fast on the Internet. This is a great information site. You'll find great stuff here, like area code lookup, and white and yellow pages search - simply type in the phone number or whatever information you have available. You can also shop online, find businesses located near you, obtain telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of your friends, check out classified ads, and more. This is a good one to store away for when you need to check out a number on your phone bill you don't recognize or if you're trying to locate a certain business in your geographical area. This next paragraph is dedicated to a couple of very popular cable movie web sites. I use both of them regularly and they are great. The first one is www.hbo.com. No description is necessary here - this one speaks for itself - the official HBO web site (and Cinemax). Get detailed descriptions of individual movies, or bring up a schedule for the day, or for the entire month, for your viewing area. You'll find top stories and movie listings, along with category listings for comedy, sports, documentaries, family and series. The other one I'm featuring in this issue is Showtime Online. Check out the spotlight features - new stuff and specials. You can also get complete program listings or individual movie reviews at Showtime Online. One unique feature is their reminder program.
