It's Party Time--Again!

Well, that time of year is here again--you know the time, when we celebrate the ending of one year and the beginning of another. Hope all of you had a great year--I know we did here at the 'old homestead.

Of course, by this time I'm beginning to show a little wear and tear and I'm sure most of you are as well. You see, around here we go almost non-stop from the end of October until after the end of the year. There are birthdays to celebrate, Thanksgiving to cook for, then comes the big Christmas Holiday and all the preparations involved there. Next comes the New Year which we always share with friends and some relatives. By then it's getting pretty tired around here, but we're not through yet. A week after New Year's Day is my son's birthday and for 2002, he'll break the magic 16 year mark so this one can't be just another birthday. He'll be getting his first driver's license and passing all the other milestones that age represents to kids everywhere. Now, if I could just convince him to get better grades in his Algebra class I would be a very happy man.

Oh well, maybe I'll get to rest a little in February.

What I'm getting at here, folks, is that for this Holiday, I think that we all should take it a little easy and not wear ourselves out any further. We should all relax and enjoy this Holiday without doing a lot of work getting things ready for our guest.

For example, around here it'll be sorta "catch as catch can". There's the table full of goodies and ya'll can jest fix your own plate and wait on yourself--cause I'm just too doggone tired to do it for you.

What we'll do is cook up some hard-boiled eggs and make them into Deviled Eggs. We'll cut up an assortment of fresh vegetables--Broccoli, Carrot Sticks, Celery Sticks, Trimmed Radishes, Little Green Onions, and some Tomato Wedges. Then we'll spread around some bowls of assorted dips and some favorite Snack Crackers and just tell all our guests to help themselves.

Of course, the "fridge" will be loaded with an assortment of beverages--something suitable for all ages and again our guests will be told to wait on themselves.

Sure does make things easier for Grandmaw and me.

We do, however, have a method behind our madness. Not only is it easier to do things this way, but while our guests are out in the dining room loading up their plates with all the good things found there, Grandmaw and I can be sure to get front row seats in front of the Television Set.
